Mystaraliza Grid is a small, privately operated, non-commercial OpenSim virtual world. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit, register with, or use Mystaraliza Grid and its website, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.
By using Mystaraliza Grid or its website, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Who Operates the Grid
Mystaraliza Grid is operated privately by its owner, Stella Brightwell. It is not a company or commercial service.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you register for an account (by invitation only), we may collect:
- Your avatar first and last name.
- Your email address.
- Your password, which is stored in encrypted (hashed) form and cannot be read by the grid administration.
- Any profile information you choose to add, such as profile text, images, interests, or picks.
Information collected automatically
When you log in to or visit the grid, the OpenSim software and server may automatically record:
- Your IP address.
- The viewer software and version you are using.
- Technical identifiers sent by your viewer, which are used to help prevent abuse and enforce bans.
- Login and logout times, and the regions you visit.
- Your home grid and avatar details, if you are visiting through the Hypergrid.
Information created through use of the grid
- Your inventory, uploaded assets (textures, objects, scripts, sounds, animations), and any land or objects you own.
- Offline instant messages, which are stored until they are delivered to you.
- Group membership, friends lists, and related settings.
Mystaraliza Grid does not record or log local chat or private instant messages, apart from storing offline messages until they are delivered.
Website
The Mystaraliza Grid website runs on WordPress. When you use it, the following may be collected:
- Login details if you sign in to manage your avatar profile.
- Cookies used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences.
- Any comments you leave, together with your name, email address, and IP address.
- Standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages visited.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information is used only to operate, maintain, and protect the grid. This includes:
- Creating and managing your account.
- Allowing you to log in and use grid services such as inventory, messaging, groups, and Hypergrid travel.
- Contacting you about your account, including password resets or important grid notices.
- Enforcing the Terms of Service, including investigating breaches and preventing banned users from returning.
- Diagnosing technical problems and keeping the grid secure.
Your information will never be sold, rented, or used for advertising or marketing.
4. Sharing of Information
Your personal information is not shared with third parties, except:
- Hypergrid travel: if you travel to another grid via the Hypergrid, some information (such as your avatar name, home grid address, and appearance) is necessarily shared with that grid. Mystaraliza Grid has no control over how other grids handle your information.
- Legal requirements: information may be disclosed where required by law, or where necessary to report illegal activity, particularly anything involving the exploitation of minors.
- Hosting and technical services: the grid and website are hosted on servers provided by OVH and located in Europe, and the domain is provided through DuckDNS.
5. Information Visible to Others
Some information is visible to other users by design, including:
- Your avatar name and appearance.
- Your profile information.
- Your online status (unless you choose to hide it in your viewer settings, where supported).
- Content you create or display publicly on the grid.
Please think carefully before including personal details in your profile or public content.
6. Data Retention
- Account information is kept for as long as your account remains active.
- Server and login logs are kept for 90 days unless needed longer to investigate abuse or a breach of the Terms.
- Information connected to a ban may be kept for as long as necessary to enforce that ban.
- If your account is deleted, your personal information will be removed within a reasonable time. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period.
7. Data Security
Reasonable steps are taken to protect your information, including password hashing and restricted access to grid servers and databases. However, as a small private grid run on a non-commercial basis, no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Request a copy of the personal information held about your account.
- Ask for incorrect information to be corrected.
- Ask for your account and associated personal information to be deleted.
- Update your profile information at any time through your viewer or the website.

9. Age Restriction
Mystaraliza Grid is an Adult 18+ grid. Information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18. If it is discovered that a person under 18 has registered or accessed the grid, their account will be terminated and their information deleted.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the grid after changes are published means you accept the updated policy.
